MOVIE Screening: Blindsight

December Thur. 11th and Fri. 12th

Deborah's Palm, 555 Lytton Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94301

161 million persons live with a disabling visual impairment, of whom 37 million are blind and 124 million are persons with low vision. Every 5 seconds someone becomes blind, every minute somewhere a child goes blind. About 90% of them live in developing countries of Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Pacific Regions. 9 out of 10 blind children in developing countries have no access to education.

There is a deep prejudice against blind children and their blindness is considered a curse, some are hidden in dark rooms and or tied down away from public. We can change that within these communities and beyond by building awareness about childrens' needs, giving them HOPE, time to play with others/friends and the happiness they deserve to have.

Braille Without Borders and Empower Bline Organizations empower blind people from these countries so they themselves can set up projects and schools for other blind people. In this way the concept can be spread across the globe so more blind and visually impaired people have access to education and a better future.

To realize these plans we need your support.

100% of donations are supporting Braille Without Borders (Schools in Tibet, Nepal and Kerala, India) and Empower Blind People (Kyrgyz Republic - a school modeled after the Louisiana Center for the Blind (LCB).

Please help us and them to make an impact. Every child deserves a safe place to learn and play.

What is Blindsight? Blindsight follows the gripping adventure of six Tibetan teenagers on their journey to climb a mountain in the shadow of Everest. A dangerous journey soon becomes a seemingly impossible challenge made all the more remarkable by the fact that the teenagers are blind.

Prior to the movie there will be a small presentation about Braille Without Borders and their project initiatives around the world. As well as highlights from out trek to Nepal and visit to their project branch in Kathmandu called Blind Rocks.

Don't miss out on an inspirational movie.
